We take tech off your plate so you can focus on your practice or firm.
Your technology should serve your business, not the other way around. Roaring Fork Valley IT delivers practical, proactive, and secure IT support tailored to independent professional offices throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and Pitkin, Garfield, and Eagle Counties. We focus on independent professional offices and small businesses (including dental, medical, and legal practices, and firms in architecture, real estate, engineering, and related fields) that need reliable systems, strong security, modern access control, and a local partner who understands both the technology and the realities of running a practice or firm in the Valley. For dental and medical clients, our work is HIPAA-aware and includes a Business Associate Agreement as standard.
We design, implement, and maintain the networks, endpoints, identity solutions, and compliance safeguards that keep your team productive and your data protected, without the overhead of a full-time internal IT staff.
Peter’s path to founding RFVIT began long before he started the company. His father ran a small-town legal practice and managed all of its technology himself (starting with dedicated word-processing machines and progressing through personal computers, networks, and servers). He enjoyed technology and stayed on the leading edge through the 1980s and 1990s, but the work consumed time that could have been spent more profitably on the practice. At the time there were no industry standards or SaaS solutions; “rolling your own” was simply the only way for a one-lawyer firm to take advantage of technology. Peter saw this firsthand and helped support the systems in his father’s office.
In the early 2000s, while working at Microsoft, he spoke with his dentist in Issaquah, Washington about the daily struggles of integrating insurance software, maintaining devices, and keeping systems running. X-rays were still mostly analog, electronic medical records were largely limited to hospitals, and a simple network with a dot-matrix printer was often sufficient. Since then, technology in small professional offices has advanced dramatically. Cloud and SaaS services are ubiquitous, imaging is digital, and clients now expect online access to records, appointment calendars, and invoices. The complexity, and the cost of managing it: has only grown.
Peter has worked in technology since 1995, focusing on integration, cloud architecture, security, compliance, auditing, and technical training, primarily through roles at Microsoft and Avanade. That experience, combined with watching the real-world impact of self-managed IT on professionals he cared about, led him to create Roaring Fork Valley IT. The goal is straightforward: give local dental, medical, and legal practices enterprise-grade security, identity, and systems support, delivered with the practical, on-site responsiveness of a trusted neighbor, so owners and staff can focus on their clients instead of their technology.
Peter lives in Garfield County with his family. He has two children currently in local schools and an oldest child heading to college this fall. When he’s not working, he spends time skiing, hunting, and rafting, the same outdoor pursuits that make the Roaring Fork Valley home for so many of the professionals he serves.
